Banishing black Salt is a staple for most Witches.

It can be used in so many ways for PROTECTION and as an ingredient in BANISHING spells, it can literally erase negativity and create a clean slate for new more postive things to grow.

Sprinkle it under door mats and in window sills to protect your home. Put it into dream pillows to keep nightmares away, in binding or cord cutting spells Banishing Salt protects the caster and the receiver from harm.

Don't be worried thinking Banishing is something bad or negative! In all magick you must have balance. Working with the phases of the Moon teaches us this;

When the moon is new we begin to cast for fresh starts, we think of our goals and we start new spells.

When the moon is waxing (growing in size) we manifest, we cast for things we wish to grow and we focus on positive growth, healing, abundance, love and good health.

When the moon is full and in her peak of power we too glow with energy, our spells are potent at this time.

When the moon begins to wane, we Witches focus on what we wish to banish, what we no longer need, what is not serving our highest good and we cast to remove, to diminish and to rid.

When the moon is dark we go within... we think... ponder... meditate. We tie up loose ends and finalise all spells for that Moon's cycle if any.

And then with the moon we begin again, a beautiful, magickal, balanced cycle.

If you follow the moon and her magick you will find this balance of light and dark, positives and negatives and you will not fear the darkness but embrace it as a gift.

The most potent Banishing salt you could ever use will be made by your own hands, filled with your intention and it need not cost a lot to make.

What you will need;

☆a small Cauldron or heatproof bowl.

☆Rock or Sea salt.

☆Charcoal discs.

☆a lighter or matches.

☆a candle (Black if you are being fancy but any candle will do this is simply to light the charcoal).

☆small tongs.

☆Banishing herbs like dried Rosemary, Wormwood, black Pepper, dried Chilli. Protective herbs like Star Anise, Cloves, Sage and Sandalwood.

☆Mortar and pestal.

☆a spoon.

☆a clean jar with a lid to store.

How to make it.

Start after the full moon when the moon is in its Waning phase. Collect ALL ashes from your magickal workings in the waning period, incense, burnt herbs, even the black scrapings from the bottom of your Cauldron or wax seal spoon. If you have none of this you could use charcoal from your fireplace or campfire and if that's still not possible you can buy and use activated charcoal but that would be a last resort!

Ashes made with the intention to repel and send away are the most powerful.

☆Spoon a layer of salt to the bottom of your Cauldron or bowl. This absorbs the heat but the vessel will still get warm so make sure you also place it on something else fireproof, I like to use an upside-down terracotta pot.

☆Light your candle.

☆Hold the charcoal disc with the tongs over the candle flame until you see it light (the disc will spark and sizzle a little).

☆Place the lit charcoal on the salt in the Cauldron.

☆Add your Herbs and resins. You will get lots of smoke! If inside open all doors and windows.

You could be using this smoke to clear and cleanse your home of unwanted stale energies. Once the smoke dies down add more herbs, you can do this over and over for about 30-40 minutes.

Once the Charcoal has burnt out and cooled you can transfer the whole lot to a mortar and pestal.

Begin to bash all the lumps down, remove any pieces of unburned herb (keep them for your next lot if you like). Keep bashing down pieces of salt and clumps of herb and charcoal.

When you are happy with the consistency begin to work your pestal in a circular motion.

Grind the herb ashes and salt WIDDERSHINS (Clockwise for us Witches in the southern hemisphere. Anti-clockwise for the nothern hemisphere Witches).

WIDDERSHINS is a circular motion going against the sun.

WIDDERSHINS is the opposite of Sunwise.

WIDDERSHINS sends energy away and should be used when the moon is decreasing in size (waning) where SUNWISE brings energy towards us and is used to manifest, to gain and should be used when the moon is growing in size (waxing).

☆☆☆☆INCANTATION☆☆☆☆

Salt of the earth,

Enchanted by my hand.

Banish all evil as I command!

Protect me and mine by day and by night,

Remove all negativity from my sight!

As I will it and for the good of all,

so shall it be!

Grab your Wand to draw a Pentacle over the top and use your imagination to visualize this powerful symbol glowing and infusing even more magick into your concoction.

☆TIP☆ Re-use any black salt you made previously this Waning Moon as the base for your next charcoal and keep adding more banishing herbs, each time you do this you make your Banishing Salt more and more potent.

Once you have ground the Salt into the consistency you like you can transfer the lot to the jar and place the lid on top. I like to add to my big jar of Banishing Salt each time the moon is Waning.

And yes, my Bainishing Salt isn't really a dark black colour, it's grey and that's ok, Banishing salt does not have to be black!

Now go forth Witch create your own Banishing Salt and work your magick!

Love Natasha xx

Aww I love to inspire others to make magick✨️ Thanks for loving my grey salt too, it could be black if I wanted to add more charcoal, actually you just reminded me that we had a ceremonial banishing fire at our last Witch and Sip so I could add some of the charcoals from that... the coals will still hold some of our intentions to banish and that is definitely a magickal ingredient! Thank you for your comment🥰✨️

Love this & you, clear & concise. What are the best herbs to use in a banishing spell/in your black salt?cinnamon, cloves, bay leaves, rosemary are my usual go to for negativity/protection- any others you suggest?

Thank you! I love this question🥰 Powerful banishing herbs I would suggest besides the ones you have already mentioned are pepper, either ground or whole peppercorns, chilli (but be careful not to breath this in, so potent it will make you cough!), Mullein, basil, wormwood, sandalwood and Calandula.
